What do you love about working at Berg Design + Build?
There’s a lot to love about working at Berg Design + Build. First and foremost, it’s the people. They take their craft thoughtfully and seriously in every blueprint, rendering, nail, screw, and phone call. They are thorough when problem solving; they expertly balance their capabilities with peoples’ needs. The company’s two core pillars: built on integrity, built to last. I’ve been exercising those values for years and deeply appreciate working with a company that challenges and encourages me to live up to those standards.
How did you get into the construction and general contracting industries?
I was introduced to Josiah through one of my long-time friends. He said Josiah needed some IT assistance. After some initial support calls, we found common ground in how we work. There’s a difference in fidelity of final product when time isn’t dedicated to thoughtful planning and carefully executing tacit craft. What’s more, we’ve a mutual affinity for process and quality grounded in making things for people to cherish for a long time.
What does integrity mean to you?
To me, integrity means maintaining trust—which is earned and not merely given—through managing expectations. That’s why our process begins with a lot of listening, visiting, and visualization. We use everyday language and visualization to aid us in speaking the right language that we all understand.
What does longevity mean to you?
Josiah and Tony said it better than me. Longevity—building to last—is as much about the tools and materials as it is about the final product. I’ll add one more aspect: it’s also about the people doing the work. In short, building to last means taking care of our people and ourselves so we can deliver quality time and time again. And future generations will see that.
What do you want customers to know about Berg Design + Build?
When we say full-service, full-spectrum, it means we take care of every aspect in your vision. We are versatile, yet unshakeable on quality standards. We are flexible, yet honest and straight-forward with our capabilities and promises.
What makes the residents of Northwest Ohio wonderful to work with?
Having lived in other places, I have a deep appreciation for my home—Napoleon and Bowling Green. There’s a kindness and warmth of NW Ohio residents that is unique and hard to find elsewhere. There’s an expression of genuine care for the wellbeing of others and a strong sense of community. We’ve rich countryside, beautiful rivers and creeks (no matter how murky), family-oriented communities, and a collective resilience for the ebb and flow.
