Superintendent

Tony Hartshorn

Tony is our Superintendent unlike any other. He believes in leading by example; so, he works alongside the more junior members of the project teams and shows them how to work safely while ensuring quality craftmanship and integrity in on-site communication. Originally from Sandusky, he moved here for work and decided to stay after forming bonds the good-hearted, hard-working residents of our more westerly counties.

What do you love about working at Berg Design + Build?

At Berg Design + Build we get into everything residential and commercial. There is always something new. With my 24 years of experience, I get involved in every aspect of a build. And I love that every day is different. One day I’m installing footers, and the next day I’m installing a metal roof.

How did you get into the construction and general contracting industries?

When I was 16 years old I needed a job. I knew a guy who worked for a construction company looking for summer help. After that, I never thought about doing anything else. I’ve a very wide gamut of things I can do, because I’ve worked on such a variety of projects.

What does integrity mean to you?

When doing a job, you do the that you would be proud to show your father in-law. No one will judge your work harder. Don’t cut a corner or think no one will notice. Someone always notices.

What does longevity mean to you?

It’s a tool you spend good money on because you know it will help you make money for a long time. It’s something worth investing in. The first guy I worked for had Milwaukee tools that were older than me. The tool is everything; if it lasts, then you can guarantee good work.

What do you want customers to know about Berg Design + Build?

I want them to know the quality investment they are making by choosing Berg Design + Build. Each project is handled with care and attention to detail. Weather it’s a new home, commercial building, or minor repair, it will be done with pride. The final walkthrough with the customer is rewarding because everyone is happy.

What makes the residents of Northwest Ohio wonderful to work with?

They are great people to be around and work with. I can count on one hand how unpleasant customers I have dealt with in 24 years.
